About the Founder
Every brand has a story.
This one starts long before Barbarous Beard Oil ever existed.
My name is Charles Kope — a Project Management Professional (PMP) by trade, but at my core, I’ve always been someone who builds things from the ground up.
Before Barbarous, I spent years as a photographer in Santa Ana, California, running Barbarous Studios. That experience put me deep inside the culture — working directly with barbers, barber shops, and the people who live and breathe grooming every day.
That wasn’t just surface-level exposure.
It was over a decade of being around the industry — watching what works, what doesn’t, and how products actually perform in real-world use.

Through that time, I had direct exposure to some of the most recognizable names in men’s grooming, including:
